Show Data

The Data button in the drawer opens a table with all fields of your imported data. Close it with the ✕ button — your changes are saved to the project.

The table shows the columns Active, ID, Uni, Address, Model, x, y, z, Rot x, Rot y, Rot z, Model Short, Function, Function ID, Position and Dummy. In grandMA3 mode a Stage column is added, followed by your custom fields.

  • Click a column header to sort the table.
  • Every column has a filter field below its header.
  • Double-click a cell to edit it. Numeric cells also accept ++5, --5, **2 and //2 to add, subtract, multiply or divide the old value.
  • Inactive lines are shown in light red.
  • ⌘/Ctrl + A selects all visible lines, so you can select exactly the filtered lines.
  • Right-click a line to open the edit dialog.

Below the table you find a code editor for a filter template. Press Apply or ⌘/Ctrl + Enter to show only the matching lines, and Clear to show all lines again.

{{ position == 'Front' and z > 2 }}

The lines that are selected when you apply the filter are available as selected, e.g. {{ line in selected }}. Learn more about the syntax on the Templates page.

ButtonDescription
All On / All OffActivate or deactivate every line. Inactive lines are ignored when creating items.
AddAdd new lines. With Amount you can add several lines at once — their IDs count up from the given ID (or from the highest ID + 1).
EditEdit the selected lines, or all visible lines if nothing is selected.
DeleteDelete the selected lines (after a confirmation).
Add Dummy FixturesSee Dummy fixtures.
Custom FieldsSee Custom fields.
Function IDsSee Function IDs.
ExportSee Export.

The Edit Data dialog shows all fields of the selected lines. A field that shows ~ has different values in the selected lines — leave it as it is and that field is not changed. The Active checkbox always applies to all selected lines.

Numeric fields accept some shortcuts to spread values across the lines:

InputResult
(10 t 20)Spreads the values from 10 to 20 across the selected lines.
(10+2)Starts at 10 and adds 2 for every line: 10, 12, 14, …
++5 / --5 / **2 / //2Adds, subtracts, multiplies or divides the old value of each line.

Every field also accepts a template, e.g. {{ position }}_{{ short_type }} for a name or {{ x * -1 }} to mirror the x-coordinate.

Open the Bulk edit section to change several fields at once with set statements, one per line:

{% set x = x * -1 %}
{% set id = i + 100 %}

The bulk edit overrides the single fields. Everything is checked against the first line before anything is written, so a broken template does not leave half-edited data.

With Custom Fields you can add your own columns to the data, e.g. a truss name or a circuit. Enter a New field name and press Add. You can rename or delete fields in the same dialog.

  • Field names are stored in lowercase with underscores (e.g. “Truss Name” becomes truss_name), so they can be used in templates as {{ truss_name }}.
  • Custom fields can also be filled directly during a Custom CSV import.
  • When merging files, your custom fields are kept.

The Function ID sets the order of the fixtures inside their function group. It is used by the Function ID form, Function ID FX and the sorting of Straight layouts. By default, prepare numbers the fixtures automatically.

OptionDescription
Manual function IDsKeeps your own function IDs instead of numbering them automatically. The switch turns on automatically when you edit a Function ID, set sub-fixture IDs or load them from the desk.
Reset to AutoNumbers all fixtures again. Choose which fields define a function group (Type, Position, Function). With Sort split (concentric grouping), all left parts come first, then the right parts in reverse, so each group stays centred.
Sub-Fixture IDs…Set separate function IDs for the sub-fixtures of a multi-instance FixtureType (Sub 1…n). Auto-spread fills 0, 1, 2, … The values are applied to every fixture of that type.
Load from Desk GroupsReads the function IDs from the order of the groups on the desk (Start GroupID to End GroupID). In grandMA3 the grid column of the group is used.

Some effects only look right when every function group has the same shape, e.g. an even number of fixtures. Add Dummy Fixtures adds a dummy fixture to every group (Type + Position + Function) with an odd number of fixtures.

  • The dummy is a copy of the centre fixture with the next free ID.
  • Dummy labels start with “D” and they get a 50 % darker appearance.
  • 3️⃣ Dummies are not patched and are skipped in presets. They only fill empty cells, e.g. in Function ID FX or in one-cell layouts.
  • In groups, use Sort Dummies to keep them in their place.

The Export menu saves the visible lines to a file:

  • CSV (all columns)
  • CSV (Vectorworks / Wysiwyg)
  • CSV (Depence)
  • CSV (Capture)
  • CSV (Capture 2025)
  • MVR

Use the filter first to export only a part of your data.
